Main conclusions
- Small percentage of responses (less than 25% of those distributed)
- Of those that responded, enthusiasm for the project and support for a community based venture
- The majority would use the shop 2-3 times a week (57%)
- Most would want to see general store type products: including newspapers/magazines, bakery, dairy, fresh fruit and vegetables
- Support for selling local produce (83%)
- A significant number, but not a majority would use other services: advertisement board, video/DVD rental, tea room/coffee shop, mobile phone top-ups
- Several good suggestions for products and services: cash machine, fresh fish
- Traditional opening hours most popular, but significant number wanting later opening
- Good number of potential volunteers, helpers
- Small number of those with relevant skills, some retail experience (6)
- Other comments: “should not compete with Babb’s”; “non-profit not viable”
- Only one mention of “prices”
